The month of April was a booming time for the City of Muncie and the Horizon Convention Center. With 25 events and 3 new conventions, including the Unitarian Universalists, Indiana Field Archery Association and DeVeau’s Gymnastics, the Horizon Convention Center brought in $1,082,955 in economic impact to Muncie with 1,318 overnight hotel stays.
The Horizon Convention Center has proven that Muncie is not giving in to the economic downturn. “In this economy, meeting planners are under tight budget constraints, but still look for high quality meeting facilities. Muncie is a viable alternative to the larger city prices. We offer competitive hotel rates and convention rates, all while giving them customized and superior service.” said Joann McKinney, executive director.
The Horizon Convention Center has high hopes for future business, especially after re-booking the 3 new conventions from April. “Groups keep coming back to Muncie because we make them feel like royalty,” said McKinney. “No matter if there are 20 or 2,000 people, we give each group our greatest attention and make sure they enjoy their time in Muncie.”
With summer approaching, the Horizon Convention Center is not slowing down. They will be welcoming many events into their building during the summer months. Some of these events include the Indiana Massage Therapy Association Convention in July and the Coca Cola Collectors Swap Meet in August.
The Horizon Convention Center is host to local, regional, national, and international guests and events which have a significant economic impact on Muncie and Delaware County.
