The Horizon Convention Center is continuing to seek business to provide economic impact for the Muncie community and Delaware County.  During the month of July, the Horizon Convention Center attended two trade shows, including the Fraternity Executives Association Annual Convention and the Indiana Society of Association Executives Annual Convention. Both conventions proved to be successful in prospecting potential business.

Jodi Massey, Director of Sales and Marketing attended both conventions to promote Muncie, Indiana as a meeting destination. During her trips, Massey was able to further develop relationships with potential clients that could bring great amounts of economic impact to Muncie and Delaware County.

The Fraternity Executives Association Annual Convention was held in New Orleans, Louisiana from July 6^th through July 10^th. Executives from fraternal headquarters all over the United States attended the multi-day convention. “Fraternities that attended this convention are excellent prospects for Muncie due to the high concentration of headquarters in Indianapolis,” said Massey. This convention proved to be very successful for Muncie and Horizon Convention Center. On Wednesday, August 12, Horizon Convention Center welcomed the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity to Muncie for a site visit of their facility and the city. If they decide to bring their convention to Muncie, around 400 Phi Kappa Psi undergraduates would arrive in July 2011 for their 6 day convention. The fraternity will be starting a chapter at Ball State University in August 2011.

Horizon Convention Center and The Muncie Visitor’s Bureau also attended The Indiana Society of Association Executives Annual Convention, which was held in South Bend, Indiana from July 14^th through July 16^th. Executives from associations, many of which are headquartered in Indianapolis, attended this convention. Muncie was represented at the ISAE Golf Outing on the campus of Notre Dame and at the CVB Expo at the South Bend Convention Center.

“We are continuing our strategy of relationship building and face to face marketing, which has been very effective. Even with the current economy and the absence of a downtown hotel, we have been able to bring new business into Muncie and Delaware County,” said Massey.

The Horizon Convention Center is host to local, regional, national, and international guests and events which have a significant economic impact on Muncie and Delaware County.
